On the morning of October 5, 2019, I woke up bright and early to ensure that everything was ready for the Pascagoula River Audubon Center Wedding. I charged my batteries, calibrated my lenses, and formatted my memory cards. I looked through my flat lay inventory and grabbed some cream colored, silky ribbon that I thought would pair well with Patrick and Joanna’s wedding details. I loaded everything in the car, kissed my husband and two toddlers goodbye, and was on my way to the Pascagoula River Audubon Center.
As I arrived at the venue, I was instantly thrilled, looking past the entrance and down the drive to the Center. I grabbed my gear and began walking, enjoying the sunshine, and admiring the sounds of a variety of animals. There were chirps, squeaks, and fluttering that filled the air. I almost felt like I was Snow White perusing the forest! It was a peaceful feeling, and I became overjoyed at the thought of photographing the very first wedding at the Audubon Center.
Joanna, her mother, and her bridesmaid arrived all dolled up, and ready to go! I began with photographing their wedding details, while they enjoyed each other’s company for a few minutes. We then photographed the finishing touches of Joanna’s wedding attire, and headed out the door to meet Patrick on the pier for their first look. With such a small bridal party, P & J were able to have a quiet, intimate first look. They were smiling ear to ear, holding each other, sharing a few soft smooches, might I add 😊
I continued on with various portraits of the Bride and Groom, the Bridal Party, the family of the Bride and of the Groom, as well as detail shots of the décor for the ceremony, and reception areas. Before we knew it, it was go time!
Friends and family gathered around under the shade of the PRAC’s beautiful trees to witness these two sweeties promise their futures to each other. They made their vows, exchanged rings, and shared a short but sweet kiss, sealing the deal. We made our way to a beautiful spot for some additional B&G portraits, before heading off to the reception. The DJ announced the Ramsays for the first time, they had their first dance, and the guests relaxed as the celebration continued.
Leading into the evening, they danced with their friends, shared drinks, and laughed together as they soaked in what would soon be just a memory. As the daylight faded, their guests came together for P & J’s sendoff. Everyone blew bubbles as the couple exited the scene. I gathered my gear and headed home, reminiscing on the activities of the day, with growing anticipation to see what I captured on my memory cards! I am always so tempted to edit immediately, when I should probably be getting a good night’s rest LOL!
It is mind blowing how we (myself included) spend an unbelievable amount of time planning one of the biggest days of our lives, only for it to be over in 24 hours. I wish the elated feelings you have on your wedding day could continue on forever. In an effort to help make that happen, I have joyfully chosen to document these precious days for lovers in a way that tells a story. I can only hope that the images that I deliver will bring joy and laughter, happy tears and butterflies to my clients as the years go by.
Congrats, Pascagoula River Audubon Center, on your very first wedding!
